My Approach to Care
Background and Broad Experience
Catherine graduated from Brunel University in 2004 and has worked in both the NHS and private sectors for over 20 years. After graduating, Catherine worked in London in various clinical areas of physiotherapy including elderly care, respiratory, musculoskeletal outpatients, paediatrics, orthopaedics, community rehabilitation and neurology. She then moved to Poole Hospital where she undertook further senior rotations in elderly care, respiratory, trauma orthopaedics, and oncology.
Specialist Palliative & Oncology Care
In 2009, Catherine began working on the Macmillan Unit in Christchurch. She worked there for 11 years, where she specialised in oncology, palliative care, and complex neurological conditions such as MND. Throughout this time, she worked on the inpatient unit, within the day centre and in the community visiting patients across East Dorset. Catherine gained further clinical experience in the management of lymphoedema, exercise within cancer care, fatigue, breathlessness, and anxiety.
Diverse Clinical Expertise
In recent years, Catherine has gained experience in a special needs school, specialising and gaining experience in working with children and young adults with profound and multiple learning disabilities, cerebral palsy, genetic disorders, rare syndromes, and degenerative conditions.
Alongside Medella, Catherine continues to work for a local private hospital, which she has done so in addition to her other local physiotherapy roles, for over 15 years, treating patients following orthopaedic, spinal, medical, gynaecological, and surgical procedures.
