"Following a major accident I was discharged from hospital with a repaired but non functioning arm and leg. Found Medella Physiotherapy on a Google search and have been receiving treatment from one of their physios with a great depth of knowledge. She has been a tremendous support mentally and guiding me through various exercises to re-establish strength and movement. She has been liaising closely with the NHS physio service to provide a far greater range of treatment than the NHS can provide. Well worth the expenditure."

Why Choose Home Visits in Salisbury?
Salisbury is a beautiful historic city, but its uneven cobbled streets and limited parking can make getting to clinic appointments challenging — especially after surgery or when mobility is limited. For those living in the rural villages beyond, public transport options are sparse. By bringing expert care to your home, we remove these barriers and allow you to focus entirely on your recovery.
Treatment in Your Real Environment
We assess and treat you in your own home — practising on your stairs, getting in and out of your chair, and using your bathroom. This makes therapy immediately relevant to daily life.
No Waiting Lists
As a private practice, there's no waiting list. Most Salisbury patients are seen within days of their first call — essential when you've just left hospital.
Family Can Be Involved
Home visits mean family members or carers can easily join sessions, learn exercises, and understand how to support recovery between appointments.

"Naomi has been providing regular physiotherapy for my Father following quite a severe stroke. Dad always looks forward to and enjoys Naomi's visits. She is very kind, calm, friendly and professional. I have always felt that his treatment was beneficial and the improvement in his movement since his stroke has been down to Naomi's expertise and encouragement."

"Would highly recommend this company. My physio was Sheena — she was the light at the end of the tunnel after breaking my hip and badly bruising my knee after a fall. She gave me the confidence to do all the exercises with great results. Within 3 months of my op I was swimming, taking long walks and driving. Thank you Sheena for all your help!"

An Older, More Rural Population Than the National Picture
Salisbury sits in Wiltshire, one of the older counties in England. At the 2021 Census, 21.9% of Wiltshire residents were aged 65 or over — and 3.0% were aged 85 or over — with a median age of 44, four years above the England figure. The rural villages of south Wiltshire that we also cover, from Downton to the Chalke Valley, skew older still.
For many of those residents, simply reaching an appointment is part of the difficulty. Salisbury's medieval centre brings narrow, uneven streets and limited parking, while the scattered valley villages are served by only sparse bus routes — the reason volunteer door-to-door car and minibus schemes exist for people who cannot otherwise get about. A hospital or GP trip can mean arranging a lift long before the appointment itself.
A home visit removes that hurdle entirely. Our physiotherapists and occupational therapists come to you — in Harnham, Wilton, Amesbury or a village in the Woodford Valley — so the journey is never the thing standing between an older adult and their rehabilitation.

Continuing Your Recovery After Salisbury District Hospital
Most older adults in the area who have had a stroke, a fall or planned surgery are treated at Salisbury District Hospital on Odstock Road (Salisbury NHS Foundation Trust). Stroke patients are cared for on its Farley Stroke Unit, while hip and knee patients are seen on the orthopaedic wards — and in each case the first therapy usually begins on the ward before discharge home.
Once you are home, short-term NHS follow-on care may come from BSW Community Health (delivered by HCRG Care Group), the community rehabilitation service for the region, and from Wiltshire Council's reablement team. This kind of community rehabilitation and reablement is typically time-limited, usually to around six weeks (NICE guideline NG74).
When that NHS support comes to its natural end — or when a family would like more frequent, unhurried sessions from the start — we continue the rehabilitation at home for as long as it is useful, at a pace that suits the person. Our guide on returning from hospital after a stroke or fall sets out the practical first steps, and you can read more about our approach to stroke rehabilitation.
