"Our father aged 98 had a fall and fractured his leg. When he came out of hospital he was advised to have regular physiotherapy to get him walking again. Seena worked with him on a regular basis for about 3 months and our father can now get around on his own again. Without Seena's skill, encouragement and patience I don't think we would be where we are today. She also kindly gave us regular updates on his progress. We are very grateful for all Seena has done and would unhesitatingly recommend her."

Why Choose Home Visits in Lyndhurst?
For many older adults in Lyndhurst and the New Forest, travelling to outpatient clinics in Southampton or Lymington can be physically exhausting and logistically difficult. By bringing treatment to your home, we remove the anxiety of travel. This allows you (or your family member) to reserve energy for the therapy session itself, often leading to better engagement and faster improvements in mobility.
Treatment in Your Real Environment
We assess and treat you in your own home — practising on your stairs, getting in and out of your chair, and using your bathroom. This makes therapy immediately relevant.
No Waiting Lists
As a private practice, there's no waiting list. Most New Forest patients are seen within days of their first call — essential when you've just left hospital.
Family Can Be Involved
Home visits mean family members or carers can easily join sessions, learn exercises, and understand how to support recovery between appointments.

"I contacted Medella Home Physiotherapy to help my friend. Seema arrived and did her assessment of what was needed to get him mobile again. The standard of her care and professional, warm and friendly techniques is high. He gained confidence that had long left him. She is very inspirational and firm with her very calm manner. Can only recommend this Company to anyone. Very professional service."

Lyndhurst’s older age profile — and why we come to you
Lyndhurst is the traditional “capital of the New Forest”, and the ONS groups it among “Coastal and Countryside: Senior Communities” — areas defined by a markedly older population. Across the wider New Forest district the median age had risen to around 51 at the 2021 Census, well above the England figure of 40, and almost three in ten residents were aged 65 or over.
Getting to an outpatient appointment from an SO43 address is rarely simple. Unlit forest lanes, roaming ponies and cattle, the village one-way system and the drive to Southampton all add up when someone is in pain, unsteady on their feet or tired easily after illness. For many older adults, the journey is the hardest part of getting help.
Seeing you at home changes that. Your physiotherapist works on your own stairs, your own bathroom and the paths you actually use — and family or carers can be there too, so everyone understands the plan.

After Southampton General: Continuing at Home in Lyndhurst
After a planned operation or an emergency admission, most Lyndhurst residents are treated at Southampton General Hospital (University Hospital Southampton), with some rehabilitation and outpatient care available closer to home at Lymington New Forest Hospital.
Once you are back home, NHS community rehabilitation from Hampshire & Isle of Wight Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust and Hampshire County Council reablement help you find your feet. These are typically time-limited, usually to around six weeks (NICE NG74). You can read how that pathway works across the district on our New Forest pathway page.
We often begin where that support ends, or work alongside it — continuing your rehabilitation and mobility work at home for as long as it helps, and fitting around any NHS or council care already in place. Our hospital discharge guide for families explains what to expect in the first few weeks.
