"My daughter contacted Medella for advice after my major surgery and stroke. The receptionist was extremely helpful and felt Seena would be the right physiotherapist to help me. Seena has given a sympathetic but firm approach encouraging me to regain movement in both my arms and to also strengthen my legs. Her knowledge and expertise have been invaluable and her exercises gentle but challenging. I would highly recommend her."

Specialist rehabilitation at home after a hospital stay
Many of the older adults we support in west Dorset come to us after a hospital stay — often following a stroke, a fall or surgery at Dorset County Hospital in Dorchester, or a period of rehabilitation at one of the community hospitals at Bridport, Weymouth, Westhaven or Portland.
Our senior physiotherapist brings more than 30 years' experience in stroke and neurological rehabilitation, so she understands the local recovery pathway intimately. NHS community rehabilitation and reablement after a hospital stay are typically time-limited — often to around six weeks. When that support comes to an end, many families choose to add more: intensive, unhurried, specialist rehabilitation that continues at home, for as long as it is helping.
That is exactly what we provide — bridging the gap between hospital discharge and real independence at home. We work alongside any NHS or council support already in place, never instead of it. If you'd like to understand the process first, our guide to rehabilitation after a hospital stay explains how it works.
Talk to a senior therapistWhy home visits matter in west Dorset
Dorset has one of the oldest populations in England: at the 2021 Census, around 30% of residents were aged 65 or over (against roughly 18% nationally), with a median age of 51. In the rural west of the county the picture skews older still.
Many older adults here live in villages along winding A35 and B-roads, often a long way from Dorset County Hospital or the nearest community site, where buses are sparse and dial-a-ride schemes need booking days ahead. For someone recovering from a stroke, a fall or surgery, the journey to an outpatient clinic can drain the very energy that recovery needs. Home visits remove the journey entirely — and let therapy happen where it matters most: on your own stairs, in your own bathroom, getting in and out of your own chair.
Therapy in Your Real Environment
We assess and treat you at home — practising on your stairs and getting in and out of your bed and chair, so progress transfers straight into daily life.
No Waiting Lists
As a private practice, there's no waiting list. Most west Dorset patients are seen within days of their first call — vital after a stroke, fall or discharge.
Family Can Be Involved
Home visits mean family members — often coordinating care from afar — can join sessions, learn how to help, and see progress for themselves.
