My Approach to Care

“My approach to care is centred around listening and developing a robust therapeutic relationship. I believe in providing evidence-based care that is focussed on what matters to you and allows you to fulfil your true potential.”

Background and Experience

I retrained to be a Physiotherapist following a career in classical music publishing with a strong desire to provide holistic and evidence-based patient care for a wide variety of conditions. Following qualification as a Physiotherapist in 2008, I began my career in an independent rehabilitation hospital treating a broad portfolio of patients. Here, I was able to treat a wide variety of patients and conditions ranging from orthopaedic, neurological and elderly rehabilitation to support and treatment for severe chronic fatigue syndrome and some rare genetic disorders.

Following this role, I progressed to a senior position in community rehabilitation initially specialising in orthopaedic rehabilitation but developing to include, elderly rehabilitations, falls management, respiratory and neurological rehabilitation. Returning to the NHS, I took up a senior position within a community rehabilitation team providing supported discharge, rapid response and management of long-term conditions.

Throughout my physiotherapy career I have been dedicated to providing care that is backed by strong and robust evidence. This love of evidence-based care led me into a role as a research physiotherapist within a large teaching hospital focussing entirely on Multiple Sclerosis. I received a National Institute for Health and Care Research pre-doctoral award to complete a Masters in Clinical and Health research which allowed me to complete my own research into diagnosis communication in MS. I have extensive knowledge of MS and I am passionate about bringing this knowledge to patient care in an holistic and meaningful way.

In my free time I am a Trustee for a national cardiac charity where I run an educational podcast for patients. My love of classical music is still strong and I play the piano whenever I get the opportunity, despite being a little more rusty these days!
