Unlike a clinic appointment, seeing you in your own home allows me to understand exactly how you manage your daily environment. We can identify immediate safety improvements—such as removing trip hazards or installing aids—and practice real-life tasks in the kitchen, bathroom, or stairs. This practical approach builds confidence where it matters most, ensuring you stay safe and independent.

Background and Experience

Heidi has worked in multi-disciplinary therapy teams since 2006. Beginning her career as an assistant, she realised that Occupational Therapy was the profession for her and graduated from Bournemouth University in 2018. After qualifying, Heidi initially worked in a rehabilitation ward for older persons at Bournemouth Hospital. Here she ran exercise classes, activity groups, and provided mobility work, while also supporting those lacking in confidence through the use of music, memory stimulation, and massage.

In 2020, Heidi moved to a position within a mental health team providing a ‘Recovery Through Self Discovery’ programme, which adopted a Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) approach. Within this setting, she specialised in anxiety management and facilitated groups designed to help individuals understand, manage, and challenge anxiety, providing them with the tools to function day-to-day.

Heidi returned to Bournemouth Hospital as a Senior Therapist, working both within the hospital and in the community where she uses all her skills within individuals’ own homes. Her ongoing work within the NHS means she is kept up to date with all the services available to our older people in the Dorset and Hampshire areas and can easily link with and/or refer to other professionals including GPs, memory clinics, and social services if appropriate.
