Stroke Recovery: A Guide to Physiotherapy Exercises at Home
Strokes affect 100,000 people yearly in the UK, often causing weakness or paralysis. Home physiotherapy aids recovery by rebuilding strength and coordination. Medella Home Physio & OT draws from Stroke Association advice for these exercises—start post-medical clearance, progressing slowly.
Stages of Stroke Recovery
Early: Focus on gentle movement. Mid: Build strength. Late: Improve function. Always monitor for fatigue or pain.
Home Physiotherapy Exercises

Lie flat, slide heel towards body, bending knee. Benefits: Enhances leg flexibility.
3. Hand Squeezes
Squeeze a soft ball or towel. Benefits: Boosts grip strength.
4. Bridge Pose
