Background and Experience

Ciara graduated from Keele University in 2002 and began her career gaining broad experience in major hospitals including Southampton General and Salisbury General. Her early rotations included cardiothoracics, spinal injury, burns and plastics, stroke and care of the elderly, and respiratory and intensive care.

In 2005, Ciara progressed to a senior level at Royal Bournemouth Hospital, where she chose to specialise in Neurology. In this role, she supported people recovering from stroke, brain injury, Guillain-Barré Syndrome, MS, and other neurological conditions.

She currently works for Dorset Healthcare as a Specialist Neurological Practitioner, supporting clients in their own homes and community settings to manage progressive neurological conditions such as MS, cerebral palsy, multi-system atrophy (MSA), and PSP. Ciara has a special interest in atypical Parkinson’s, taking a lead role in supporting individuals from diagnosis to end-stage care. She is passionate about encouraging a healthy lifestyle and exercise.

Ciara has extensive knowledge of and contacts within the NHS, social services, voluntary agencies, and hospices, enabling her to facilitate referrals and support clients with accessing other services where needed.
