My Approach to Care
Holistic & Empathetic Rehabilitation
Adopting a holistic approach, Kate tailors her assessments and interventions to support each individual’s unique journey towards development, recovery, or maintenance of meaningful activities. As a highly skilled rehabilitation occupational therapist, she excels in helping clients build new skills or regain the confidence needed to perform meaningful tasks. Her work is focused on breaking down barriers and promoting self-management of long-term health conditions.
Specialist Mental Health Experience
Kate has developed a particular interest in supporting individuals who have experienced loss and the associated functional decline that often accompanies it. Her personal experiences and deep understanding of loss enrich her practice. Kate’s expertise also extends to helping individuals understand and manage symptoms of anxiety, using techniques like graded exposure to enable clients to gradually engage with activities that had previously been avoided.
Diverse Hospital & Community Background
Kate graduated from Brunel University in 2001 and has enjoyed a diverse career spanning over two decades in both mental and physical health settings. For a significant portion of her career, she worked at Poole Hospital, gaining extensive experience across various clinical areas, including trauma orthopaedics, oncology, general medicine and surgery, care of the elderly, and the rapid assessment unit for the elderly.
