Rosie Watts

Occupational Therapist

Specialising in: stroke rehabilitation, upper limb rehabilitation, fatigue management, housing assessments – aids and adaptations.

Locations covered: Bournemouth, Christchurch, Poole, Dorset and Hampshire.

Rosie graduated from Oxford Brookes University in 2009 and moved to Bournemouth to complete her junior rotation at Bournemouth Hospital and in the community. She has worked in older persons’ rehabilitation, general surgery, orthopaedics, cardiac rehabilitation, stroke, day hospital, and community rehabilitation. After gaining skills in an acute setting, she realised her passion was helping people at home in a community setting, which led her to move into a social services setting in Cambridgeshire in 2014, where she became a specialist in adaptations and equipment provision.

She works with people undergoing transformations in their lives, whether that involves needing equipment after an injury or illness or adaptations to their homes to ensure they can remain there for as long as possible. She is passionate and driven to support those who achieve their goals and enhance their quality of life. She is known for building strong rapport with her clients, making them feel at ease, listening to their difficulties, and discussing solutions and ideas to support the best possible outcomes.

She has worked alongside councils, charities, and housing associations to support adaptations such as stair lifts, level-access showers, and wheelchair ramps to enable independent or assisted access to the community. She also possesses knowledge and skills regarding assistive technology to ensure that loved ones remain safe at home and can refer to these services if appropriate.

She collaborates closely with physiotherapists, surveyors, and carers to ensure the patient’s needs are met holistically.

She currently works in the NHS three days a week in community stroke rehabilitation as a senior occupational therapist in the Poole and Bournemouth area. She is experienced in assessing and treating stroke patients to maximise their recovery and support them in reaching their goals. She has up-to-date clinical knowledge about upper limb rehabilitation, fatigue management, anxiety management, visual perception difficulties, and advice on driving following a stroke.
