Join Our Growing Team at Medella Home Physio & OT

Medella Home Physio & OT is a private physiotherapy and occupational therapy service, dedicated to providing high-quality rehabilitation to our clients in a community setting. We want to bring expert care directly to where it’s needed most — our clients’ homes.

We are looking for an experienced and compassionate Occupational Therapist to join our friendly, dedicated team.

Why Join Us?

  • Flexible schedule — Set your own hours and enjoy a great work-life balance
  • Autonomy — Work independently while being part of a supportive team
  • Rewarding work — Make a real difference to people’s lives in their own homes
  • Competitive pay — Plus travel reimbursement for journeys over 6 miles from your home

About the Role

This is a really varied role but any work you take on will be within your scope of practice. Examples of the work involved are:

  • Comprehensive Geriatric Assessments — managing frailty, falls and anything else that’s needed
  • Functional Rehabilitation — enabling our clients to maximise their independence and quality of life
  • Neuro Rehabilitation
  • Housing and Equipment — assessing, advising and arranging for housing needs, adaptations and equipment
  • Seating, Wheelchair and Postural Management — assessment and advice to individuals and organisations
  • Independent Assessments — in cases of review, complaint or potential litigation
  • Mental Health — anxiety management and managing memory problems

We aim to keep your caseload as local as possible, and travel reimbursements apply for journeys beyond 6 miles.

Please note: This is a self-employed role, which may not suit everyone. If you’re unsure, we’d be happy to discuss the details with you.

Common Questions About This Role

Is this a self-employed role?

Yes, all of our therapist roles are self-employed. You’ll be responsible for your own tax, National Insurance, and professional indemnity insurance. In return, you get genuine flexibility over your hours, caseload, and working pattern. If you’re unsure whether self-employment is right for you, we’re happy to discuss the details before you commit.

What areas will I cover?

We aim to keep your caseload as local to you as possible. Each role has a primary location and surrounding service area, but there’s flexibility — we work with you to build a patch that suits where you live. You can see the typical travel radius for each role on the job listing.

Is HCPC registration required?

Yes, HCPC registration is an essential requirement for all our therapist roles. Physiotherapists must also be members of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP), and occupational therapists must hold RCOT or BAOT membership. The role is subject to an Enhanced DBS check, which Medella will provide. You will also need a valid UK driving licence.

How flexible are the hours?

Very flexible. You choose your own hours and caseload, from as few as 4 hours per week up to 30 hours. We typically start low and gradually build up your caseload. Many of our therapists work around other commitments — whether that’s family, further study, or another role. We’re happy to operate 7 days a week, 8am–8pm, as long as it suits both the clinician and the clients — so there’s plenty of scope to fit your schedule.

Do I need my own car?

Yes, a valid UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle are essential. You’ll also need appropriate car insurance that covers business use. All our work is home visits, so you’ll need to travel to patients’ homes, care homes, and residential settings. We reimburse mileage for journeys over 6 miles from your home.

How do I apply?

Simply get in touch via our contact form, email us at contact@private-physio.co.uk, or call us on 01425 490151. We’d love to have an informal chat about the role first — there’s no pressure to commit straight away. If you don’t see a role that matches your location or clinical speciality, we’re still happy to hear from you.
