This may involve teaching you new, energy-saving techniques, introducing simple pieces of adaptive equipment, or suggesting minor changes to your home. Our goal as part of our wider occupational therapy service is to provide creative, practical solutions to make your daily life easier and safer.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are ‘Activities of Daily Living’ (ADLs)?

ADLs are the essential self-care tasks we all need to do to look after ourselves, such as washing, dressing, toileting, and feeding. When these become difficult, it can have a huge impact on our independence.

My loved one is reluctant to accept help. How can you assist?

This is very common. Our therapists are skilled at building rapport and trust. We focus on the person’s own goals and work collaboratively to find solutions they are happy with, framing our support as a way to empower them, not take over.

Is your service just about recommending equipment?

No. While recommending the right equipment is part of what we do, our approach is holistic. We also focus on teaching new techniques, adapting your environment, and building your strength and confidence to perform tasks independently.
