What to Expect
Make an enquiry
When your enquiry reaches us, we will get back to you as quickly as possible. We are often not able to answer the phone immediately as we’ll be out visiting clients so you’ll need to leave us a voicemail, email, WhatsApp or use the contact form.
Our first phone consultation:
When you call us to make an enquiry, you will speak directly to a qualified physiotherapist who will discuss with you whether Medella Home Therapists are able to meet your needs. We will also establish which of our therapists is the right clinician to treat your individual needs. We are a team of Occupational therapists and Physio’s who are all highly experienced and have specialised their knowledge and skills in certain areas. If we are able to help, we will arrange a convenient time for one of our therapists to visit you at home.
Initial Visit
During the first visit, the physiotherapist or occupational therapist will take a detailed history from you about your condition.
There will be a physical aspect to the initial assessment which may involve looking at joint ranges, tone, sensation, balance and strength as well as some functional tasks.
Findings of the assessment will be fully discussed with you, along with the available options for treatment and their likely outcomes.
There will be an opportunity to set goals of what you want to achieve from your treatment, as well as time scales, session durations, and frequency.
The therapist may ask your permission to contact your GP or consultant for further information pertinent to providing you with safe and effective treatment.
Follow-up Sessions
The nature of the follow-up sessions will have been discussed and agreed with you in the initial visit. These will be personalised for each client and may involve active and/or passive exercise programmes, manual therapy or mobility practice amongst others.
Equipment provision can be discussed as and when the need arises. We are able to provide at cost price, mobility aids as well as aids to assist with some daily living tasks.
It will be expected for you to take an active part in your treatment/rehabilitation programme. Following each session, your physiotherapist or occupational therapist will advise you on what exercises it would be beneficial for you to do before your next session.
