Kate graduated from Brunel University in 2001 and has enjoyed a diverse career spanning over two decades. She has worked in both mental health and physical health settings, providing care in the community and within inpatient environments.

Kate has developed a particular interest in supporting individuals who have experienced loss and the associated functional decline that often accompanies it. Early in her career, she worked in older people’s mental health, where she co-facilitated a course on managing bereavement. Her personal experiences and deep understanding of loss further enrich her practice. Kate is passionate about rehabilitation and thrives on working with people in their own homes, helping them achieve their personal goals. With over 24 years of clinical experience, she is dedicated to assisting individuals in managing and recovering from periods of physical and mental ill health.

Adopting a holistic approach, Kate tailors her assessments, interventions, consultations, and coaching to support each individual’s unique journey towards development, recovery, or maintenance of meaningful activities. As a highly skilled rehabilitation occupational therapist, she excels in helping clients build new skills or regain the confidence needed to perform meaningful tasks. Her work is focused on breaking down barriers, promoting self-management of long-term health conditions, and empowering individuals to enhance their quality of life.

Kate’s expertise extends to helping individuals understand and manage symptoms of anxiety. During her time in mental health, she developed skills in graded exposure techniques, enabling clients to gradually engage with tasks and activities that had previously been avoided due to fear or anxiety.

In addition, Kate spent a significant portion of her career at Poole Hospital, where she gained extensive experience across various clinical areas, including trauma orthopaedics, oncology, general medicine and surgery, care of the elderly, and the rapid assessment unit for the elderly. This experience enhanced her knowledge of complex moving and handling techniques, adaptations for activities of daily living, and setting realistic, achievable goals for her clients.

Kate’s warm and empathetic nature enables her to build strong, meaningful relationships with her clients. She is committed to ensuring that each individual feels heard and understood, empowering them to engage in the activities that matter most to them and supporting them in achieving their desired outcomes.

Kate qualified from Brunel University in 2001 and has over two decades of experience supporting adults with mental and physical health needs.

Her background spans both community and inpatient settings, including over 10 years at Poole Hospital where she specialised in elderly care, bereavement, trauma, and mental health.
